Accessibility Guide to DSA SF

DSA SF is committed to maintaining and expanding accessibility in all our work. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment that ensures the full participation of all members, though we understand it may not be possible to remove all barriers. Please see Article 1: Solidarity in the Chapter Code of Conduct for more information. To request accessibility accommodations, email ccc@dsasf.org.

Event Promotion

All chapter events must be promoted on social media and displayed on the events calendar with enough advance notice to allow accommodation requests and good faith efforts from event coordinators.

Office Space

The DSA SF Office is on the first floor of a building without entry stairs. There is enough space for a wheelchair to enter through the front entrance, but there are some barriers to users of wheelchairs and other mobility devices once in the office. The bathroom is large enough to fit a wheelchair, however there are no grab or transfer bars. Additionally, the bathroom is often used for overflow storage, and a wheelchair user may need to ask another member to clear the space before entering.

All general meetings require masks for COVID-19 protection. For all other meetings, mask requirements are set by the event organizers, so be sure to check event descriptions for this information. Masks are provided at general meetings and also are always available in the office for use.

The office has one air purifier and additional ventilation can be added by opening the front and back doors. There also is an open air outdoor back patio for people to eat food outside or get some fresh air.

Hybrid and Online Meetings

We seek to foster environments of inclusion in both our physical and digital spaces. All general meetings, along with many of our weekly working group and board meetings, include both hybrid in-person and zoom options.

Childcare

Comrades making a childcare request for any event should understand that the chapter’s childcare infrastructure is a work in progress, but that event organizers shall make a good faith effort to accommodate any and all requests in order to make the event as accessible as possible for caregivers and children.
