Talking to people is central to effective organizing, but how do you embark on an organizing conversation? Organizing Mindset Training is a four-part event series that goes in depth into every aspect of the organizing conversation so that it’s a sharpened and ready-to-use tool for any campaign. After this training, participants will:
- Learn about the differences between organizing, advocacy, and direct services/mutual aid
- Understand of the role of an Organizing Committee and carrying out an organizing strategy
- Overview the Organizing Conversation and get in-depth practice for each step
- Develop the ability to have multiple successive organizing conversations with a person, with the goal of getting them more involved in your organizing
Attendance of all four sessions isn’t required, but it is encouraged!

Reportback: Bay Resistance Coalition
Last Tuesday, September 29th, DSA SF joined several organizations in the Bay Resistance Coalition to protest at the OpenAI conference. Sam Altman was the main speaker. We were out there to protest OpenAI’s complicity with ICE, their technical support to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and their role in the climate crisis through the continued use of data centers. We also demanded that OpenAI pledge to protect democracy should the Trump administration attempt a fascist takeover of the election. People Over Profit and billionaires were also our main slogans. The protest was very successful and drew media attention with coverage appearing on social media, local news stations, Democracy Now, Al Jazeera, just to name a few.
Thank you to the electoral board and steering for supporting this action and also to those DSA members who were able to make it out to this early morning protest. DSA SF will continue to join in with other Bay Resistance coalition members to fight against any fascist and oligarch takeover of our government that want to silence the voice of the working class. Stay tuned for more information regarding other actions that are needed in the event that the upcoming election is stolen or thrown into chaos.
