Events & Actions
Extreme Dean Campaign Kickoff This Sunday, March 24th!
Come out this Sunday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. at the Panhandle at Fell St. and Baker St. for our very own Extreme Dean’s campaign kickoff!
There will be some speakers, coffee, and pastries, but most importantly we’ll be door-knocking and having conversations about why Dean is cool with our D5 neighbors!
Bowling Night! 🎳
Strike support extends past the picket lines—relax from the workday blues by bowling with DSA SF! We’ll be hitting the lanes on March 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Yerba Buena Skating & Bowling Center at 750 Folsom Street.
There is a suggested donation of $10 to cover the cost of the lanes, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds!
Reading Group @ Tenant Organizing WG Meeting: The Rise and Fall of the Black Fillmore
Join the DSA SF Tenant Organizing Working Group meeting on Wednesday, March 27th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at 1916 McAllister for a discussion of the article “‘Hush Puppies,’ Communalist Politics, and Demolition Governance: The Rise and Fall of the Black Fillmore” which discusses the history of community responses to re-development in the Western Addition. Redevelopment destroyed what had been called the “Harlem of the West”, displacing thousands of Black families in the service of real estate profits.
We will also discuss our ongoing work, including a proposal to revamp our Socialist Housing Organizing Project (SHOP) program to train socialists as tenant organizers; hear a report-back on our ongoing work with Tenant and Neighborhood Councils (TANC); and plan upcoming events the chapter can plug into. We’ll see you there!
Palestine Mass Meeting Reportback
This past Saturday, the Palestine Solidarity Working Group gathered nearly 50 members and non-members at our office for a mass organizing meeting. We reflected on the work we’ve done and the mass actions that have taken place so far, strategized ways that DSA SF can organize for Palestinian liberation in this critical moment, and discussed the role of socialists in the broader struggles against imperialism and colonialism around the world. We’ll be sharing a synthesis of these discussions with the membership soon.
Coming up next – join us Sunday, March 31st at 3:00 p.m. for our first Guerilla Ed for Palestine event! We’ll meet at the office to team up, then go hang posters around the city, and finally regroup at Zeitgeist to share experiences and hang out. You can RSVP here.
2024 Merch Drop: Bay Area DSA Sweatshirt Pre-Sales Are Live!
Our 2024 sweatshirt pre-sales are live! Grab your Bay Area DSA merch while you can so we can match with our comrades from all around the Bay (and have something red to wear in time for May Day 👀).
Pre-sales will close on Sunday, April 7th with limited availability afterwards. No shipping is available, so plan to pick your sweatshirt up from the DSA SF office or at a general meeting.
The 2024 Chapter Convention is Coming Soon!
It’s all hands on deck as we prepare for the 2024 Chapter Convention this June 15th and 16th! Here are some handy reminders for this upcoming month to help you get ready.
- Nominations for Steering and Grievance Officers are open! Submit your nominations here. Nominations will remain open until the May 8th chapter meeting, and elections will be held at the convention in June.
- April 10th – Our next chapter meeting!
- April 19th – Pre-Convention Info Session and Workshop #1
- April 24th – Deadline to submit bylaws amendments for voting at Convention
- April 28th – Deadline to submit priority resolutions for feedback from Steering
Apply to Join the 2024 Convention Planning Subcommittee!
The 2024 Convention Planning Subcommittee is tasked with setting the timeline, putting together the agenda, leading the coordination, and handling the logistics for the chapter’s 2024 Annual Convention in June. We are starting early because its a big operation! The cadence will be light at the beginning of the process and naturally pick up the pace as we get closer to the main event!
Comrades with event planning experience are especially encouraged to apply! This is also a great place for newer members who are interested in jumping into the chapter to get involved. You’ll have plenty of support and see how the sausage is made for one of the biggest productions and most important cornerstones of our chapter’s democratic practice.
Spring Socials with DSA SF 🌸
Come hang out with your friendly neighborhood socialists this spring! For the next four months we will be having a variety of outings and you are invited – be sure to mark your calendars and watch this space for more details!

Behind the Scenes
The Chapter Coordination Committee (CCC) regularly rotates duties among chapter members. This allows us to train new members in key duties that help keep the chapter running like organizing chapter meetings, keeping records updated, office cleanup, updating the DSA SF website and newsletter, etc. Members can view current CCC rotations.
