Vacine Equity Phonebanking in District 10
March 28, 2021 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Certain census tracts in Bayview-Hunters Point have been highly disproportionately impacted by COVID in both new and cumulative cases. Truly equitable vaccine distribution would mean the most vaccines and highest per capita vaccination rates in these at-risk tracts. This does not appear to be the case.
Moreover, vaccine data has been presented by zip code, rather than census tract. An abundance of data demonstrates specifically racial inequities disadvantaging Black San Franciscans in particular. Given the demographic variation across zip code 94124, granular vaccine distribution inequality may be starker than it immediately appears.
We intend to phonebank seniors in highly affected precincts with the goal of:
- Relaying accurate information about accessing vaccines and supportive resources such as transportation.
- Identifying constituents in need of more complex case management, and relaying that information to Board President Shamann Walton’s office for constituents services.
- Turning over data to Board President Walton to determine success and weaknesses of vaccine distribution.
